IMS Minor

The Minor in Interactive Media Studies introduces the student to digital media and allows them to examine their chosen major from a new perspective. It provides students with a framework for integrating a broad understanding of interactive media balanced with a more specific focus on disciplinary tracks.

Entrance Requirements

  • Apply to the minor through the IMS online application. Upon enrollment you must declare a track.
  • 3.0 overall GPA


  • Take two of the following courses (6 credit hours total)
  • CSE 251 Game Programming for Non-Majors (3)
  • CSE 252 Introduction to Web Programming (3)
  • ENG/IMS 224 Digital Writing and Rhetoric (3)
  • ENG/IMS 238 Narrative and Digital Technology (3)
  • IMS 201 Information Studies in the Digital Age (3)
  • IMS 254 Design Principles Applied (3)
  • IMS 257 Web Interaction Programming (3)


Take three courses in any one of the following Specialization Tracks (9 credit hours total)

A Self-designed track can be created with pre-approval of an advisor.

Note: Courses completed in the foundation cannot be used to complete a track.
