IMS Major

IMS offers a 36 credit hour B.A. through the College of Arts & Science.

Consistent with our belief and mission to be at the disruptive frontiers of traditional disciplines, we require all IMS majors to have a second major. That major can be any offered at Miami University other than Journalism (which doesn’t allow IMS as a second major).

In order to be admitted into the major, you must first apply. Because of the personal mentorship of our faculty and the supervised thesis, we cannot accept very many majors.

After reading the information below, you can apply for the major here.

All applications to the major should be in by September 2nd, 2009 and January 15th, 2010 for each round of review, respectively. You will not be admitted to the major other than after those times. You must have at least a 2.5 Miami grade point average. You must submit an online portfolio of related work (art, writing, code, video, animation, web sites, etc.).
